Using the verb "llevar" in Spanish
In Spanish we use the verb "llevar" to signify different related actions:
To carry
To take to
To move to
To have with you (when going somewhere)
To lead to
To go (food to go = comida para llevar)
Caperucita lleva comida a su abuelita
Little red riding hood takes food to her grandma

Anciano = Old man
To say "viejo" (old) to an old man can be a little disrespectful. It is better to use the term "anciano" for an old man and "anciana" for an old woman.
Anciano = Old man
Sabio = Wise
Sabiduría = Wisdom
El anciano es sabio. Tiene una gran sabiduría
The old man is wise. He has a great wisdom.

Pasar la noche en Blanco
In the old times men had to spend the previous night awake before being apponited as Knights. They had to dress with a white tunic.That's why in Spanish we use "Pasar la noche en blanco" (Spend the night in white) to express that we couldn't sleep during the nightime. Other similar expressions are: "Pasar la noche en vela" which means: to spend the night in vigil.

With well over 35 million Spanish speakers in the United States, and with over 40% of the population growth being among the Hispanic people, the stage is set for an enormous increase in Spanish usage in the United States. This has sparked a lot of interest among US citizens. This interest will only increase as the Hispanic population of the US approaches 50 million by the year 2015. But it's not only in the US where Spanish is popular. In Europe, Spanish is the second most popular second language, after English.
